We are interested in the global, regional and local, spatial and temporal variability of solar radiation and the factors that affect ultraviolet, visible and infrared radiation levels at the Earth’s surface.

Our research focus is on the influence of solar radiation on ecosystems via measurements and modeling of various weighted solar radiation components. The group has been involved in various studies to develop algorithms for calculating solar UV and actinic flux from satellite measurements in combination with radiative transfer modeling. Through related activities group members have gained significant expertise concerning the development and characterization of solar radiation instruments.
