Institute for Environmental Research & Sustainable Development, National Observatory of Athens, Thissio (Lofos Nimfon), Athens, Greece

Born in Athens, Greece, in 1986. He holds a Bachelor Diploma in Physics [2012] from the University of Athens, Greece, and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Physics [2015] from the same institute, where his thesis focused on the “Simultaneous gas and aerosol in-situ ground level measurements in the Eastern Mediterranean during summertime Etesians”. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Chemistry Department in the University of Crete [October 2016] and his doctoral thesis deals with the ‘formation of new particles in the Eastern Mediterranean and their effect on Cloud Condensation Nuclei (CCN) and Cloud Droplet Number (CDN’).  As a Research Fellow in the National Observatory of Athens (ΝΟΑ), Greece, he has gained years of valuable experience in environmental monitoring and the operation and management of advanced research infrastructure and technologies. During his active work field practice Panayiotis focused primarily on the retrieval, monitoring and measurement of aerosol size distributions and studying their chemical and physical properties. From 2016 till today he is an Assistant Manager of the urban background ‘Thissio Aerosols Monitoring Station’ in the National Observatory of Athens, Greece.

Research Interests:

Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, Atmospheric Aerosols, In-Situ Measurements, Aerosol-Cloud-climate interactions, Fine aerosol size distribution, Nucleation procedure, New Particle Formation (NPF).
